What we are doing within our prison system when addressing mental health issues is certainly not working well. This sounds like something we should look at more carefully. I found this article from The Atlantic Cities to be quite enlightening. Far too many military Veterans sit in U.S. prisons because of issues around their war zone exposure. More often than not, upon returning as civilians they were triggered and reacted quickly in a world where such reactions result in assault charges and the like.
Let’s move into the 21st century and learn from our mistakes and speak of prevention and restoration rather than further exacerbating someone’s existing mental health issues!
