Hearts Toward Home International is a registered not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization. It serves to promote awareness of and provide assistance to trauma survivors who are dealing with their invisible scars.
As a result of Hearts Toward Home’s efforts with the U.S. Military and related organizations to assist the troops, their families, and all military veterans make healthy transitions from the war front to the home front. Military returning from combat are now able to learn about the challenges ahead, what to expect, methods for dealing with the unexpected and improve their quality of life. Educational books written by Bridget Cantrell, PhD. and workshops she presents have set the standard for post-combat training for returning to a non-military civilian life.
Trauma is not exclusive to those who have been in military combat zones. It can be found in survivors of abusive relationships and other violent crimes. It can change the lives of the young, the elderly and every age in between. For over twenty years, Dr. Bridget Cantrell has treated trauma survivors including those with traumatic brain injuries (TBI). As a result of her experience during those years, she has developed a reputation as a leading expert in post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Dr. Cantrell has authored several books to assist trauma survivors and their friends and families to better understand how the mind processes traumatic events and behaves afterwards. Its from this knowledge and awareness that a path toward a better quality of life is achieved, a path for Hearts Toward Home. These books are available for purchase by anyone on Amazon.com.
Dr. Cantrell is often a featured PTSD expert during events and programs designed to provide a healthy and neutral environment for camaraderie and guidance (e.q. horse camps and wilderness excursions). Recently these have included episodes of the show, “Warrior Camp,”
